Motocross protection consists of additional accessories to keep you safe from harm in the event of a crash, flip, or rollover. It can also take some of the sting out "rider error", in the event that your bravery is greater than your skills...
So, in order to be as safe as possible, whether on a weekend ride with the buddies, or running a hare scramble, or amateur night at the track, I strongly recommend checking into some additional protection to make sure you get back home in the same condition as when you left.
Guards: Are available for your knees, your elbows, and your shins. And they consist of a hard plastic, which is molded to fit the appropriate body part.
Elbow guards are great when riding in close quarters, like a narrow trail, a fire road, and the local MX track. As you turn the bars to steer right, your left elbow is projected out. And the left turn causes the right elbow to project. It is in these circumstances that you can have contact with the person behind/alongside you. Elbow guards can minimize the risk of fractures, and even breakage in those situations.
Shin guards offer protection against brushes with low hanging branches, bushes, etc. And they are highly recommended when riding in the desert. But in the event of a crash, these shin guards protect your shins when you crunch into the frame/suspension of your own machine.
Knee guards act in the same fashion, except the have the ability to bend with your knee, and offer protection in crashes with just about anything you might run into.
And lastly, we have the chest protector, which protects your front side from flying rocks, gravel, or whatever else is being roosted at you.
All of these accessories attach quickly and easily via adjustable straps. Some use velcro, some actually have male/female snap connector. It varies by the manufacturer, and the guard.
And since all of these motocross protective devices are made from a durable, hard plastic, they don't add a lot of extra weight to the rider.
So here are our motocross protection vendors...
