Honda Recalls

This recall notice only pertains to vehicles within the following VIN Ranges:

JH2TE320*6K000019 to JH2TE320*6K010997 (TRX450ER)

JH2TE324*6K000007 to JH2TE324*6K000111 (TRX450R) *: Denotes check digit

Dear TRX Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act.

What is the reason for this notice?

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, American Honda Motor Co.,Inc. is conducting a voluntary safety recall of certain 2006 model year Honda TRX450R/ER ATV’s.

What is the problem?

A safety defect may exist in the steering system of your TRX. The front suspension arm ball joints may have been contaminated during the production process, resulting in rapid wear of the ball joints and possible ball joint separation. If ball joint separation occurs while riding, the TRX could lose steering control and may crash.

What should you do?

Honda strongly recommends that you do not operate your TRX until it has been repaired. Parts will be available soon. We will send you another letter notifying you when you can go to your Honda ATV dealer for the free replacement of all four front suspension arms
(Right/Left & Upper/Lower).

If you must operate the vehicle prior to repair, perform the following inspection before each ride to ensure that the ball joints have not loosened:

Visual and Physical Inspection of the upper and lower ball joints:

Park the TRX on a flat, hard surface, such as a driveway or hard packed dirt surface. Turn the handlebars until the front wheels are aimed straight ahead. With the handlebars centered, grab the tire with both hands as shown. Push and pull the top of the tire while feeling for any looseness, listening for a clicking/knocking noise, and observing the upper and lower ball joint housings for up and down movement. Repeat this procedure on the opposite side. If you perceive any looseness, hear noise, or observe movement of the ball joint housing, the ball joint has excessive freeplay and must be replaced before the TRX is operated.

If you do not feel qualified to inspect your ball joints, please do not operate your vehicle until it has been repaired.

If you feel any excessive steering looseness or hear noise while riding, stop the vehicle and check the ball joints.

If you have questions.

If you have questions about this notice please call Honda Motorcycle Customer Support at (866) 784-1870.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you for your FourTrax purchase and your cooperation.

Sincerely,

American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Next is the Suzuki Recall

Dear Suzuki Owner,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Act.

What is the reason for this notice?

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Suzuki Motor Corporation is conducting a voluntary Safety Recall Inspection and Repair Program for certain 2007 model year LT-Z90 QuadSport ATVs.

AFFECTED VIN RANGE LM4AD41A*71100060 through LM4AD41A*71105113

What is the problem?

On some affected ATVs, the bushing pivot mount boss on the front suspension arm may have been only partially welded. A front suspension arm that is partially welded can break off during riding, causing the suspension arm to separate from the ATV frame. If the suspension arm separates from the ATV frame, the rider could lose control of the ATV. Loss of control could possibly result in a crash causing severe personal injury or death.

DO NOT OPERATE YOUR AFFECTED 2007 LT-Z90 QUADSPORT ATV

To minimize the risk of injury or death, do not ride, or allow anyone else to ride, your ATV until this inspection and possible repair has been completed.

What is Suzuki doing to solve the problem?

Your dealer will inspect for missing welds on the front suspension arms. This inspection does not require any removal of fenders and will not change the appearance or operation of your ATV. This procedure is very simple and only takes a short amount of time to complete. There will be no charge to you for any recall service related parts or labor. If the front suspension arms on your ATV are missing welds, your dealer will replace them with new front suspension arms.

What should you do?

Bring your ATV to your dealer along with this letter for inspection and possible repair. To aid your dealer and Suzuki, make sure you are prepared for the recall service by taking the following steps:

Contact your Suzuki dealer as soon as possible to set up an appointment for the recall service before you bring your ATV in for the inspection.

Plan your personal schedule so you will not miss your recall service appointment.

Clean your ATV thoroughly, so your dealer can perform the recall service quickly. This will aid in the inspection process.

When you transport your ATV to the dealership, take care to protect it from damage and load it per the recommendations in the ATV's Owner's Manual.

Bring this letter with you to help your dealer process the claim.

What to do if you receive this letter in error?

This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own a 2007 model year LT-Z90 QuadSport ATV or never owned one, no action on your part is needed. If you sold your ATV, please forward this information to the person to whom you sold your ATV.

Who to contact if you experience problems?
Your Suzuki dealer can provide you the fastest response to your questions or concerns about the suspension arm bracket inspection and repair program. If you have any difficulty with this recall campaign you may contact the American Suzuki Customer Service Department for assistance using the direct Customer Service telephone line at 714-572-1490 during the hours of 8:30 am to 4:45 pm Pacific Time. Please have your vehicle identification number ready when calling. You may also leave a brief message at 800-444-5077 and a representative from the American Suzuki Customer Service Department will get in contact with you.

Sincerely,
